Robinson Consulting / SoftScape Designs
WELCOME

My name is Davin Robinson and I am an independant software developer specializing in Custom Applications Design & Development.

My latest project is Cross 6

An iPhone game in the Apple App Store now.
    Seach for: "Cross 6"

I do most of my Website and Server-side development in Visual Studio on the .NET Platform with MS SQL Server as the DBMS.

Since you are already on this site, you probably have a good idea of who I am.  If you have an IT project that you want to talk to me about, send an email to the address below and be sure to put "DAVIN" at the start of the subject lineKeep the initial materials under 5 pages.

The most important thing for us to do initially is to make sure that you and I are compatible, and have a common vision of precisely what you are trying to do.  If we both decide to collaborate, then you will be provided a set of Tokens and we can start making this site more interactive.  And if we are not a good fit, then I will make every effort to point out your next logical move.

- Good Luck

WHAT EXACTLY IS IT THAT I DO AGAIN?

System Integration -
About 50% of the work I do is related to integration with existing systems and processes. IT platforms and business models must evolve quickly to match pace with ever more demanding consumers and an expanding mobile platform. Most larger organizations must adopt newer technologies in a way that allows them to continue their legacy business operations.  I've seen a lot of  "turn-key" software that needed extensive customization to integrate fully.  And I have had exposure to hundreds of core systems across the Finance, Education, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Municipal and Insurance industries.

Database Utilization - While large centralized mainframe processing fell out of favor with the proliferation of microcomputer networks, large DBMS servers have never taken that same hit.  Microsoft's Visual Studio .NET platforms have always been good at the tasks associated with data manipulation.  Most of my early DBMS efforts were with Oracle on a UNIX box, but the last 25 years have been spent working mostly with MS SQL Server.  My general philosophy is to heavily utilize DBMS Stored Procedures and Functions called by custom class methods that are consumed by user interface modules.
System Design and Implementation - far the most difficult to define, yet is probably the most important.  The vast majority of projects involve multiple people or departments, each of whom brings one piece of the puzzle to the table.  While project managers need to stay "out of the details" in order to focus on the broader company objectives, my first objective is to inspect all the individual pieces to see how they fit.  I try to look at technical problems in a abstract way... looking to see how it all fits together. Successful systems have geometry to them.  They need to be rapidly developed, fully tested, smoothly deployed, well documented and highly reliable.  The best way to accomplish this is through modularity.  The most successful systems are comprised of small, distinct, clearly defined objects.
